last wednesday, the day started with a cup of creamy earl grey from the secret garden tea shop. really uneventful. i was ready to spend the day on the office. so when the phone rang and i saw that the call was from new york, i got excited.
i work for a service heidi’s fabulous fatigue fighters. the service provides massage, chiropractors and acupuncturists to the shows that come to town. every few months, i get offers to work on the big productions. i have done the spice girls, i have done american idols and i have worked the warped tour…that one i did not do well at all. that one, i learnt that i needed to like the music to accept the gig.
well, i love lady gaga and it was great to have the chance to do the show. rah, rah!!! love love love! love the music, love the costumes and the dancing. the woman is great.
so i spent the day resting and preparing for the evening. arriving at 6pm, i was thinking that i was going to work on the crew. imagine my delight to find out that i was going to work on the lady herself.
got to give her some credit. she started her tour three weeks ago, flew to london to do a show for the queen, flew to nyc…her home town…to do the vma’s and an interview with barbara http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKAAclOOA34 then flew to vancouver to do three nights. talk about jet lag.
i am so grateful to know what i am a body therapist. after ten years of doing massage and yoga, i have a great ability to know what i am doing i am doing. also with the assurance of my clients who come back, time after time to get repaired, i know that i have an effect on human bodies. i am a fixer. that i know.
after 90 minutes, the room was filled with production crew and posse. my job done due to the commotion of getting her show working, i went out to work on the dancers. wow, what a great bunch of people. i loved working on such physical people. mind you, i did not have the best of locations to do the work. i am hopeful that i made a good connection with the crew. let’s hope that the dancers will call for advice and i can put them on my biofeedback machine and work on them virtually. yes!!!
the show was amazing. 90 minutes of costumes, dancing and singing. outrageous, theatrical and inventive. the crew outdid themselves in hair and outfits. the dancing was impressive due to the excessive travelling of the crew in the past three week. kudos to them.
what a great show!
