gratitude
i am very blessed to know and do the things that i have found in my life that support my search for peace. one of the best pieces has been my long love for yoga. when i first started, it was in 1986, the world expo brought a man into town that i fell in love with and to me he represented the sun and the moon. he had flown in fresh from esalen which is located in big sur california. i fell for the energy he was shining from his very pores. i think most of you know what i mean.
above is a picture of me with my my friend on the left and my x husband on the right. now harreson is a director of yoga training in thailand for absolute yoga, i am raising a child in vancouver and john is the wandering man he has always been, probably surfing on his favorite break in costa rica. his favorite saying was that a city is always better in your rear view mirror and i now know what he means.
yoga is now a trend that is here to stay and i am finally living a lifestyle that i have grown to love and cherish.
funny as i was rummaging around to find an old picture of my x, i found a photo of the famous viktoras kulvinskas (survival into the 21st century) in my boxes of old film pictures. how far we have come from those days of film technology. that really brought back memories.
when i met john, i jumped into a rabbit hole that was about raw energy. he was a surfer dude, fresh from antigua, west indies. he was originally from Florida but had had a sailing life in the island in the Caribbean.
living with him was really an amazing time…i treasure those lessons greatly. what i really know was that i was taken from a mainstream education and immersed into a bonafide health orientation. i learnt that running around with my head cut off and my heart closed down was not a good idea. really it was about finding the time to live my life as enlightened as i can.
even now, i find that the brainwashing of the brady bunch television era i grew up in is entrenched in my almost 50 year old body and i am still in lessons to break the patterns.
this weekend was a gathering of the past, present and future. i was up north of vancouver, canada – in a ski town of whistler, bc. it was the home of the winter olympics of 2010 but it was also my old home of the 1990′s. i lived there for about 10 years…drawn by the love of a man, john and also the lifestyle of the wild west ski bum attitudes of the inhabitants. one of my oldest friends is the beautiful trisha b. she was the one that introduced me to the quantum biofeedback and we have had many wonderful talks strategic to living the best we can be.
she has been recommending her yoga teacher, colleen felgate to me for many months and since i was attending the whistler yoga conference , i took colleen’s class on philates yoga flow. i must say that that was the best technical class i have ever taken. i learnt to not use my glutes and started using my abdominal panels, obliques and rectus abdominus when engaging in my movement. since it has been a philates month, due to my participation in wendal stevens philates bootcamp, i am really grateful that i am learning yet again. it is purely survival, since falling off of a cliff in the grand canyon 1992, i have been on a crash course to learn my body. thank you colleen for your passion.
it was not all about the conference, in between classes, i was able to do some work on my bestest buddy sarinda hoilett at her place in mount currie. she has a dream that she is going to have a rural place away from the highway where she can nurture her clientale to her raw cuisine. she is absolutely the best raw person i know. she has the grace and the character that i most admire and i am so grateful that we met in the whistler library in 1995 and she quickly signed up to go to rebalancing camp with me in costa rica. from then, she has manifested such a beautiful life and i am in total awe of her. our sons have a bond. we are of the same tribe.
the best part of the weekend was spending time with judith hoilett who is the mom of sarinda, at her home next door. we sat and had tea and i was able to show her my new indigo system. yeah. she is a clinical psychologist. think we both have come a long way in the past ten years and this time we hit it off. i really love that. that is really what i desire most is connection with everybody, in love and respect or our own paths. i am fortunate that i have self stymmed my own reactions and have realized that others are going through their own stuff and it is not always me. it is us together creating a good moment or a bad one. it was a pleasure to find peace and love. it was an honor to have work that helps another person and have the time to be with that person.
the weekend capped off with me taking another awesome class in social networking. the organizer of the event, glenn iles was magnificent with this topic. historically, i have a tendency to run with the big bloggers and they seem to have it dialed. first because they are teaching blogging from a long experience and second, they seem to have success in the medium. so it is really been a blur of creating this blog for public consumption.
since i have just started in dec of 2008, i am still mystified by the gendre. this class was just the right speed for me. it was a review of the website, blog, e-newsletter and data base compiling that i need to checklist. the two hours flew and we were reassured that glenn was going to give more classes for us to take to get us through the maze…here is glenn’s contact http://whistleryogaconference.com/glenn-iles.html i was able to see that many people were in the same boat as me and that i could eventually teach to others how this map goes. as well network the people who could assist someone who is looking to market on the internet.
then end of the day was a speaker who was a student of an old whistler ski school instructor ,naseem haramein, who now is working in the realm of quantum physics. judith was quite excited about the prospect of hearing him speak and my gf, trisha was there as well to hear his disciple , jamie janover !
i think that what ever was said in that room to that crowd has had an immense effect to the power to the nth degree in connecting the disconnect that permeates our society. that is why in my life, i have searched to connect the common denominators of our communication and community. to prepare ourselves to live healthy and worthy lives.
to create that world, we need to continue our studies into our limitations as well as develop our strengths to speak of what we can do to help ourselves and our fellow man. to do that we have to see all the dimensions of our possibilities.
I came away from the conference knowing that we are full of skill practitioners who are generous with their information. there is no competition if we know that we are one on this planet. until that day comes, we must study ourselves and others so that we can be strong enough to help. our skills will be needed in the near future.
happy wanding everyone…keep passing out the dna amgenex !
